    Public Space One (South), 538 S Gilbert St, Iowa City, IA 52240
    Join us for our weekly Argentine Tango social dance and lesson. We begin with an all-levels class at 7:00 PM, suitable for newcomers and experienced dancers alike.
    Following the lesson, from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, a DJ will play a mix of traditional and contemporary tango music to dance to.

    Please note:
    • Enter through the back entrance and ring the bell.
    • Wear comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement.
    • Admission is free for first-time attendees, $5 for others.
    We look forward to seeing you for an evening of dance and music in a friendly community atmosphere. The dance floor awaits!

    Public Space One (South), 538 S Gilbert St, Iowa City, IA 52240
    No experience or partner required to join! This class will teach you the basic 6-count and 8-count patterns as well as fundamentals of connection and footwork. We will also cover dance etiquette and how to groove with your partner! $10 flat fee, or $5 if it's your first time joining us.

    Weekly lessons every Thursday!

    A new series of 4 lessons begins at the first of every month. The first Thursday of the month is the best time to start for beginners!

    7:00 - 7:45pm Beginner Lesson
    7:45 - 8:15pm Social Dance/Practice
    8:15 - 9:15pm Level 2 Lessons

    $10 per evening or $5 for students. Drop in - no need to register or bring a partner!

    Venue: The Masonic Lodge in downtown Iowa City (down the street from the public library)

    Join 5 Seasons Swing at the Cherry Building (329 10th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids) for a beginner lesson at 7pm and a social dance from 8 - 10pm. $10 / person (cash or Venmo accepted). No experience is necessary, and no partner is required.

    Laissez les bons temps rouler, Iowa City! Fat Tuesday comes early this year, and Wildwood Saloon is turning into a full-on Mardi Gras dance hall for a night of joyful noise, nonstop dancing, and Gulf Coast–meets–New Orleans flavor. 🎉💃🕺
     
    Kicking off the celebration are The Swampland Jewels, ready to take you on a musical road trip down Highway 61 and across the bayous of Southwest Louisiana into East Texas. Blending original tunes with Gulf Coast oldies, Cajun and Creole standards, and Tex-Mex favorites, their sound is guaranteed to get you on your feet. If you’re not already an accordion fan, you will be by the end of the night. Led by Iowa City mainstay Nate Basinger, The Swampland Jewels fuse Midwest roots with Gulf Coast soul, drawing on blues traditions and Louisiana folk music to create a dance-driven, feel-good set perfect for Fat Tuesday.
     
    Keeping the party rolling are Dandelion Stompers, voted Best Local Band by Little Village Magazine in 2022. Known for their infectious energy and joyful vintage jazz, the Stompers channel the spirit of a street band busking on a sunny afternoon—hot swing, soulful horns, and rhythms that keep the dance floor hopping. Their signature sound shines on their acclaimed double album Whirlwind Sessions: Vol I & Vol II, featuring brass-worn vocalist Katie Roche on vocals. As The Syncopated Times writes, “Not everyone singing for a jazz band sings jazz — she does.”
